On March 31, 2020 Hawkins County Mayor Jim Lee declared a State of Emergency and issued a ‘Safer at Home‘ directive to Hawkins County residents urging them to stay home except for ‘essential’ travel.
In response to the ‘Safer at Home’ Directive, Hawkins County Library is closing all book drop locations in addition to library branches. Please keep all library materials at home until the library reopens.

The library will not be assessing fines during the closure, which is currently expected to last through the month of April.

Following the recommended guidelines of local, state, and national agencies working to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Hawkins County Library System (Church Hill, Rogersville, and Surgoinsville) will be closed until further notice. All on-site services are cancelled. We are working on arranging virtual services and will update our website when they are available.
Updates to this situation will be posted on this website and the Hawkins County Libraries’ Facebook page.
No late fees will be incurred during the closure.
Book drops are available at each location to return items. If book drops are full, please keep materials. You will not incur any late fees during the closure.
Please check the “Online Resources” tab of our website to access electronic library materials 24/7.
The Hawkins County Library System Board of Trustees next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 6th at 6:00pm at Surgoinsville Library.
